This grant will combine a realistic restaurant setting with technology skills shown through student generated invitations and menus and parent involvement will be attained by their attending the café during the opening hours of their child’s classroom. The goal of the café is to showcase the hard work and determination of students in writing. The café will be set up on campus, with real-world atmosphere and materials, as well as specific opening hours corresponding to each classroom. The primary goal of the writing café is to allow students to share their progress in writing their parents or family members, as well as further strengthen the bond between student, parent, and school campus. In addition, math concepts will be reinforced through the restaurant style atmosphere that will include adding numbers in money format and making correct change.
